The Solar Judicial Commission report confirms the involvement of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the sensational solar scam.
The report, headed by Justice (Retired) G Sivarajan criticized the manner in which the office of a CM helped Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan amass illegal money by cheating investors of Rs. 7 crore.
The involvement of CM’s office came to limelight when the three staff members in Chandy’s office were found to have frequent contacts with the couple.
The report also mentions the names of several senior Congress leaders who alleged accepted sexual favors from Saritha Nair. In a significant turning point, the Commission has sought to consider such favors as money laundering. In addition to this, cases of sexual assault have also been mentioned in the report.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered a criminal case to be registered against former Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who allegedly influenced the police officials to get Chandy out of the case.
Meanwhile, Chandy and other MPs and MLAs involved in the case will face cases of sexual assault. Earlier Nair had submitted a confidential letter in the court naming some of these names. She had also accused Chandy of accepting Rs. 1.9 crore bribe from her through his aide Thomas Kuruvila.
