Terming terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed as a “liability to nation,” Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said the country needs some time to get rid of this liability.
Addressing the press at Asia Society seminar in New York, Asif said, “It is very easy to say that Pakistan is supporting Hafiz Saeed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. They are liabilities.”
Saeed is the mastermind of Mumbai terror attack. He roams free in Pakistan and is aggressively pursuing politics in the country. He recently launched a political party and plans to contest election in 2018. However, considering the mounting pressure from international community, Pakistan recently opposed the registration of the party.
Hafiz Saeed’s political party Milli Muslim League (MML) reportedly fielded a candidate in the recent by-election in Pakistan, following the ouster of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over corruption charges.
